Enjoy Nature:
Regular exposure to outdoor light & fresh air can reduce the effects of Seasonal Affective
Disorder, & stress in general. Enjoy nature! It can lift your spirits.
Good Nutrition:
Eat plenty of fruits, veggies, whole grains, and lean proteins; and limit your refined sugar
intake. Ask your physician for recommendations for vitamins & herbal supplements.
These may help to increase energy levels, strengthen the immune system, and balance
hormones and other chemicals in the body.
Accept Support:
If you feel that a stressful situation threatens to overwhelm you: pray, seek a professional
counselor, talk to someone, ask for support. You are not alone.
Take Good Care Of Yourself:
Set boundaries at work and home. Honor a time and space for your own relaxation &
wellness.
Creative Expression:
Expressing your creativity & emotions is very important to total health. Start a creative
journal, make a collage, paint, draw, sew, knit, play a musical instrument, sing, dance,
garden, sculpt, carve wood: do whatever you enjoy & helps you feel better.
Make Scents With Aromatherapy:
You’re feeling stressed out. You have a raging headache. You can’t sleep and your body
is crying out for relaxation. If this sounds all too familiar, it may be time to beat stress the
aromatic way. Our brains respond to thousands of smells, evoking memories, emotions
and physical responses. Aromatherapy is the art & science of using pure essential oils to
enhance the health, well being, & harmony of the body (physical), mind (mental) & spirit
(emotional).
Essential Oils contain hundreds of organic constituents providing a variety of natural
elements that work on many levels. They contain antiviral, antiseptic, antibiotic, sedating,
analgesic & other therapeutic properties. There are numerous ways to use essential oils
to benefit from their powerful effects. My 3 favorite ways to use Essential Oils are
aromatherapy massage, soaking in an aromatherapy foot bath, and using a diffuser. For
more information on Aromatherapy please visit my Links & Resources page.
Be Optimistic, Lighten Up & Think And Speak Positively:
Laugh. Watch comedies, read humorous books, get together with people who have a
positive attitude and know how to look at life on the light side. Remember, our attitudes
directly affect our health.
